Elisa Ferreira, a Portuguese politician and economist, is currently the European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms since 2019. She previously served as Vice-Governor of Portugal Central Bank from 2017 until 2019. She was Representative of Portugal at the EU Single Supervisory Mechanism's Supervisory Board from 2016 to 2019, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2004 to 2016 and a Member of the Portuguese Parliament from 2002 to 2004. She was also Minister for Planning (Spatial and Regional Development) from 1999 to 2002 and Minister for Environment from 1995 to 1999, in Portugal. Finally, she has been teaching as Professor at University of Porto since 1977.
